Chapter 687: How Ruthless! (Two-in-One)
“Rossi killed Miles!”
“Rossi’s gone mad! He actually killed the Hell’s Angels’ second-in-command!”
“…………”
As the gunshots rang out, the crowd burst into chaos.
Rossi fired several more rounds into the ceiling, shouting a warning at everyone: “Nobody move! This is between me, Jess, and that Chinese bitch! Anyone who moves gets a bullet!”
At the same time, his men sprang into action. Some guarded the exits with guns, while others spread out, weapons trained on anyone who dared to move.
The faces of the Corallo Family elders turned green—especially Antonio, who trembled with rage.
They never imagined Rossi would be this deranged. Not only did he publicly execute the Hell’s Angels’ second-in-command, but he also dared to threaten everyone present at gunpoint, including other Family members.
No matter how this ended today, there would be hell to pay.
The Corallo Family and the motorcycle gang Hell’s Angels were heading for war!
Once he’d secured the scene, Rossi aimed his gun at Liu Yutong and Jess downstairs.
“Jess! And you, Chinese bitch! You thought winning the match meant you could take everything? Dream on!”
“Everyone listen up! Jess and that Chinese woman cheated! They used banned substances—that giant definitely shot himself full of performance enhancers!”
“There’s only one real winner here, and that’s me!”
“Rossi! Have you lost your mind!”
Antonio, the most respected elder of the Corallo Family, stood up again and barked: “Put down the gun! Do you know what you’ve done? You killed the Hell’s Angels’ second-in-command—you’re dragging the entire Corallo Family into war!”
Rossi burst into crazed laughter at his words: “Uncle Antonio, you think I care about that now? If I lose, I lose everything! Fuck the Family, fuck the war—all I want is to win!”
“Jess! And you, pretty Chinese girl! Hand over all your money now, or I’ll turn you both into sieves!”
Jess was scared of death, but at the critical moment, he still stepped in front of Liu Yutong to take the bullets for her, shouting at Rossi: “Uncle Rossi, calm down! It’s not too late to stop! If you put down the gun, as head of the Corallo Family, I promise I won’t hold you responsible for today. I can even give you money to leave—”
“Hahaha… Not hold me responsible? Give me money?”
Rossi acted as if he’d heard the funniest joke in the world: “My dear nephew, at a time like this, you’re still putting on an act? Still trying to lull me with that bullshit? You’d be better off thinking about what posture to kneel in later when you beg me for mercy!”
As he spoke, killing intent exploded in his eyes. His finger slowly squeezed the trigger, preparing to gift Jess a bullet in the thigh.
Of course, he wouldn’t kill Jess yet—not until he had the money.
“Mr. Rossi.”
Liu Yutong suddenly pushed Jess aside and said: “In China, there’s an idiom: a cornered dog will jump over a wall. It means a dog pushed to desperation will jump the wall to escape, but more often than not, it’ll just bite wildly at everything.”
“And you are that rabid dog right now.”
“You think killing Miles and taking everyone hostage will turn this around? You think violence solves everything? You’re delusional!”
“Shut up! You damned Chinese bitch!!”
Rossi was completely enraged. He jerked his gun up, aiming right between Liu Yutong’s eyes, and roared: “You think I won’t blow your head off right now and shut that mouth forever!”
Facing Rossi’s death threat, Liu Yutong remained utterly fearless: “Feel free to try.”
She held up two fingers: “But let me remind you of two things.”
“First, you’re running low on bullets in that pistol, aren’t you? How many rounds did you fire into the air? How many did you use on Miles and his men? Do you have enough left to kill everyone here?”
“Second, guess whether you’ll die first when you fire that shot at me?”
“What do you mean?”
Rossi’s body went rigid as he whipped his head around.
In that instant!
Whoosh!
A black shadow shot lightning-fast from the shadows!
It was Lan Die!
Like a true butterfly, she had arrived behind Rossi in complete silence, a dagger pressed against his carotid artery.
“Don’t move.” Lan Die’s voice was soft, but it made Rossi feel like he’d plunged into an ice cave.
He didn’t dare move. Really didn’t dare.
He could feel the cold blade against his skin. One slight movement, one heavy breath, and that sharp edge would slice his throat without hesitation.
Everyone was stunned by this sudden reversal.
The same Rossi who’d been so arrogant and in complete control moments ago was now meat on someone else’s chopping block—his life hanging on a stranger’s whim.
When had that mysterious Eastern girl crept up on Rossi? Why had no one noticed?
“Is she… a ninja?”
“Idiot! Ninjas are Japanese! This must be one of those legendary Chinese assassins! I’ve heard that some long-standing or powerful crime syndicates in China specifically train these top-tier assassins who come and go like ghosts, reserved for the most dangerous hits!”
“If they even have shadow assassins, this Wanlong Society… must be one of the most elite, most terrifying criminal powers in China!”
“Exactly! They’ve got the Black and White Fiends, Hell’s Titan, and now a Shadow Assassin—every last one of them is a monster!”
“Rossi really stepped on a landmine this time!”
“……”
Just as the situation reached a stalemate, sirens suddenly blared outside the boxing gym!
Woop! Woop!
A swarm of police cars raced over, followed by armored trucks and SWAT assault vehicles, instantly surrounding the entire gym.
“Attention, everyone inside! This is the San Francisco Police Department! You are surrounded! Drop all weapons, put your hands on your heads, and walk out slowly! I repeat, drop your weapons, put your hands on your heads, and walk out slowly!”
The megaphone announcements blared into the gym, and the crowd immediately stirred.
“Police? How did the police get here?”
“Quick, hide the guns!”
“……”
Rossi’s eyes lit up when he heard the voice—what a coincidence, it was an acquaintance.
Instantly, his confidence surged. He immediately shouted at the door: “Bob! Sheriff Bob! It’s me, Rossi Corallo! Come in and save me! There’s an armed assailant in here! They killed Miles and want to kill me!”
The moment he finished speaking, the gym’s main door was… well, the door was already gone.
A middle-aged white man in a sheriff’s uniform, slightly overweight, rushed in with over twenty fully armed officers, immediately raising their guns at the surroundings.
“Nobody move! Hands where we can see them! Or we shoot!”
Faced with fully armed law enforcement, the gangsters all obediently raised their hands!
After all, in the United States, if you don’t heed a warning, they’ll really shoot you dead.
Once the scene was under control, Sheriff Bob looked at Rossi and the corpses beside him, visibly frowning.
“Rossi, what the hell happened?”
“Sheriff Bob, perfect timing!” Rossi pointed behind him: “There’s a Chinese assassin behind me trying to kill me—save me!”
Sheriff Bob’s frown deepened. He looked behind Rossi at the empty space and said displeasedly: “Rossi, are you jerking me around? There’s nobody behind you.”
Rossi froze, quickly turning his head to discover that ghostly assassin had vanished, without him even noticing when.
But he had no time to dwell on that now. He spun back around, pointing at Liu Yutong and Jess, reversing black and white: “It was that Chinese woman! And Jess! They killed Miles, killed my men—they’re the thugs!”
He pointed at Ji Yu in the ring: “And that giant! He used performance enhancers in the match, nearly killed Hank! Arrest them!”
Sheriff Bob followed Rossi’s finger to Liu Yutong, who was subtly protected at the center by her people. His expression noticeably paused, even revealing a trace of courtesy.
So this was the Chinese woman the chief ordered them to protect?
Her looks and bearing were indeed extraordinary!
Rossi didn’t notice Sheriff Bob’s expression, still raving: “Sheriff Bob, hurry! Arrest them all! Especially that Chinese woman! I’m charging her with attempted murder! I want her in prison for life!”
Sheriff Bob didn’t act immediately. Instead, he instructed the officers behind him: “Collect evidence, call an ambulance!”
“Yes sir!”
Several officers immediately sprang into action, beginning to clear out bystanders and secure the scene.
Rossi, seeing this, assumed Bob was following procedure and rejoiced inwardly. Once they reached the station, he had ways to handle things—after all, he’d been “cooperating” with Bob for years, had given him plenty of benefits.
But the next second, Sheriff Bob’s actions left him completely stunned.
Sheriff Bob walked up to Liu Yutong with an unexpectedly courteous, even ingratiating attitude: “Miss Liu, are you alright? Were you hurt?”
“???”
Rossi’s heart instantly chilled, and he suddenly had a strange feeling that the sky was about to fall.
Liu Yutong gave a small shake of her head: “I’m fine. Thank you for arriving so promptly, Sheriff Bob.”
“It’s our duty.”
Sheriff Bob apologized again to this major patron: “Miss Bai has already coordinated with us. You and your team are now officially contracted special investigative consultants to our police department, assisting in the full investigation of the attack on Chinese entrepreneur Bai Jingchen. We never expected you to encounter violent assault from gang members during your investigation. This is a failure on our part.”
Special investigative consultants?
Rossi’s mind reeled at their conversation.
That Chinese woman wasn’t a gangster hired by Jess? How did she become a police special investigative consultant in the blink of an eye?
“Bob! What the hell are you talking about?”
Sensing something wrong, Rossi couldn’t help but bellow: “She’s a gangster! Look at her people—Black and White Fiends, Hell’s Titan… do any of them look like good people? She’s fooled you!”
Sheriff Bob turned his head, his smile instantly vanishing, replaced by a strictly business-like expression: “Rossi Corallo, we now have sufficient evidence that you are suspected of multiple serious crimes: illegal possession of firearms, assault with a deadly weapon, and murder!”
He waved his hand: “Arrest him!”
Two officers immediately stepped forward, expertly taking Rossi down—one locked his throat, the other cuffed him.
“No! Bob, you’ve got it wrong!”
Rossi struggled frantically on the ground, shouting: “We’ve worked together for years! I’ve given you so much money, and now you’re arresting me!”
Sheriff Bob’s expression instantly darkened as he said sternly: “Rossi, watch your words! Our police procedures strictly follow the law! We never accept bribes of any kind! Keep slandering law enforcement like this, and you’ll just add another charge!”
“You…” Rossi trembled with fury.
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, he whipped his head toward Liu Yutong, eyes full of venom: “It was you! You must have bribed Bob, you damned Chinese bitch!”
Liu Yutong’s gaze turned cold.
This Westerner was truly foolish. Did he not know some things shouldn’t be said to someone’s face?
If he hadn’t ranted like this, perhaps Sheriff Bob might have given him some special consideration out of past affection.
But now that he’d made a scene, to completely clear his own name and protect his future, Bob would likely only “take care” of him with extreme prejudice.
More importantly, the man had insulted her repeatedly… and she was never one to hold a grudge.
Liu Yutong stepped forward two paces to where Rossi lay, still struggling and cursing under police restraint.
“Mr. Rossi, let me repeat: in China, three things matter above all—hierarchy, rules, and face.”
“You were insubordinate to your elder—me. That’s not understanding hierarchy.”
“You broke the rules of the match and resorted to armed violence. That’s not respecting rules.”
“You lost your bet and tried to flip the table. That’s not having any face.”
“And you’ve insulted me multiple times…”
Liu Yutong leaned in close and whispered to Rossi: “So I’ll teach you a lesson you’ll remember about how important these three things are.”
Then she straightened up and turned to Sheriff Bob: “Sheriff Bob, the suspect seems emotionally unstable and may attempt self-harm. Please keep him properly restrained.”
Sheriff Bob caught her meaning and gave the officers a signal.
The two officers immediately intensified their hold, pinning Rossi’s limbs.
Rossi still struggled frantically: “Let go! You bastards! Chinese bitch! I’ll fuck you up! I’ll torture you to death! You’ll pay for this…”
Before he finished cursing, Liu Yutong suddenly raised her foot and drove her high heel down hard into a rather vital part of Rossi’s anatomy!
“AHHHH!!!”
A shrill, inhuman shriek instantly echoed throughout the gym!
Rossi’s face twisted grotesquely, eyes bulging. His body arched like a boiled shrimp, white foam spewing from his mouth as he convulsed uncontrollably.
The gangsters filing out under police orders all stared dumbfounded—especially the men, who all felt a sudden chill in a certain part of their anatomy.
This woman was ruthless!
