Chapter 572: Too Dark, Too Cruel!
“Fuck! Do you know who I am? I’m the heir to the Corallo Family! Touch me and you’re in for a world of trouble! A metric fuck-ton of trouble!” Jess shouted, back against the wall, facing the gang of thugs before him.
But the thugs couldn’t understand a word he was saying.
“What’s this foreigner jabbering on about? Something about a corgi? Some ‘spicy family’? Sounds like they’re selling hot pot.”
“Who gives a shit if it’s malatang or yuanyang hot pot? Just grab the goods and let’s bounce. The client is waiting.”
At that moment, not far behind them, a young blond foreigner watched the scene unfold with cold detachment.
These were the thugs he’d hired. And he’d already bought his plane ticket, just waiting to snatch the key and fly out the moment he got it.
Staying in China for too long was too damn dangerous, especially since this place seemed to be the stronghold of that woman who’d beaten the shit out of him before.
Jess, staring at these thugs who were completely on a different wavelength, nearly coughed up blood in frustration.
“Fuck! You goddamned morons! Can’t you understand plain English?!”
“Oh? Still running your mouth? Who the fuck are you calling a motherfucker?!”
The lead thug exploded with rage: “Boys, get him! Let’s teach this foreigner some manners!”
As the thugs were about to swarm him for a good old-fashioned beatdown, Jess wailed inwardly once more.
“God, Buddha, Allah! Is the young master of the Corallo Family really going to die here today?!”
Just as he was sinking into despair—
Honk! Honk!
A bright light suddenly flooded in from the alley entrance.
Immediately after, a teasing voice rang out behind them.
“Yo yo yo, what’s all this then?”
A black sedan was parked at the alley entrance. A chubby figure with a lollipop in his mouth led a group of young men in black suits toward them.
The thugs, seeing this display, were momentarily stunned.
So many black suits! All black!
“Wh-who are you? Mind your own fucking business!”
Ma Da slowly took the lollipop out of his mouth and pointed at Jess. “This foreigner’s under my wing. Do me a solid and scatter, yeah?”
“Who the hell do you think you are?! You say leave and we’re supposed to leave?!” The thug leader felt his pride wounded and snapped back.
At that moment, a sharp-eyed lackey beside him tugged at his sleeve. “Boss, shut the fuck up! Just shut up!”
“Shut up? Why should I shut up? Why are you such a pussy?!”
The thug leader shook off his underling’s hand in annoyance. “Motherfucker, don’t say you work for me after this. Embarrassing!”
The lackey was practically crying. “Boss, look at the emblem on their suits! That’s Wanlong Society!”
“So what if they’re Wanlong Society? That doesn’t give them the right to throw their weight around!” The thug leader reflexively retorted, but halfway through, his entire body froze and his face drained of color.
“You mean… the Wan…Wanlong Society?”
“Yeah. Black suits, dragon emblem embroidered on the chest. That’s them!”
The next second, under the stunned gazes of Jess and the other underlings, the previously aggressive thug leader hit his knees, sliding across the pavement.
“Big brother, I was wrong! I have a filthy mouth! We’ll scram right now! Immediately! Please spare us!”
This was Wanlong Society! Everyone on the streets knew how ruthless they were, and their backing was terrifyingly powerful.
Many had heard how the East Sea Alliance had been wiped out.
And they’d heard that Zhao Tianxing, the leader of the East Sea Alliance, was killed by Wanlong Society right in front of the cops.
When this news got out, everyone on the streets trembled with fear.
That’s why the thug leader kowtowed so quickly—if he’d been even a second slower, he feared he’d become the second Zhao Tianxing.
No, he wasn’t even worthy of comparison to Zhao Tianxing. At least Zhao had been the leader of a major syndicate. He was just small fry.
Ma Da seemed completely unfazed by this spectacle. He sucked on his lollipop and said lazily, “Oh? Now you know you were wrong, but you were pretty cocky just now, huh?”
The thug leader was almost in tears. “No, no! Big brother, you are the sky! You are the earth! You are the one and only legend!”
“I’m just a rotten scallion—no, I’m not even a scallion, I’m a garlic clove. Just fart me away!”
The others quickly followed suit, kneeling and begging for mercy.
“Big brother, we were wrong!”
“Big brother, I’ve got an eighty-year-old mother to support and three kids to feed. If something happens to me, my family is ruined!”
“My wife just gave birth and is still in confinement, big brother! Have mercy!”
“Huh? Wait, aren’t you a single loser? Where’d you get a wife and kids?”
“Fuck off!”
“…”
“Alright, alright, get up. Stop wailing,” Ma Da said impatiently, waving his hand.
“Thank you, big brother! Thank you!” The thug leader felt like he’d been pardoned. He was about to run off with his underlings when they were blocked by a group of men in black.
“B-big brother, you still won’t let us go?”
“No, we just need you to be witnesses.”
“Witnesses?” The thug leader looked confused.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Ma Da didn’t elaborate.
Meanwhile…
The young blond foreigner who’d been secretly watching from behind saw how things were turning and prepared to slip away quietly.
But as he was about to turn around, he found his body couldn’t move.
Two young men in black suits who had somehow circled behind him grabbed his arms, one on each side, restraining him.
“Let me go! Do you know who I am? I’m Hawk! My boss is the don of the Mafia!”
“I warn you, I’m a foreigner. If something happens to me, the embassy will definitely intervene. This will cause a serious diplomatic incident! You can’t afford the consequences!”
Ma Da strolled over with a smile. “Oh? A diplomatic incident? Do you know you assaulted someone? You dared to throw hands on our turf. Don’t wave the embassy flag at me. Even if you dragged the consul here himself, you’re going to jail today!”
He then signaled to the two underlings holding Hawk.
The two men in black immediately nodded and dragged Hawk deeper into the alley.
Immediately after, blood-curdling screams came from inside.
“Ahh! Stop… please! Stop! Hahaha… I was wrong! I really was wrong! Help…!”
The sound was intermittent, interspersed with hysterical laughter and sporadic screams. Just listening was enough to imagine a scene of horrific torture.
The thugs trembled with terror, cursing silently in their minds.
“Holy shit! We heard Wanlong Society loves to torture people, and it’s true! This foreigner is screaming like he’s in living hell. Good thing we kneeled fast, or we’d be in the same boat!”
What they didn’t know was that the men in black were just tickling Hawk.
Jess, who had just escaped danger, now felt a chill shoot from the soles of his feet to the top of his skull. Every hair on his body stood on end.
He was, after all, part of a foreign gang. He’d seen plenty of shootouts, turf wars, even some bloody scenes.
Where he came from, conflicts were resolved simply and brutally. Bang, and the feud was over. Cruel, but quick and clean. No suffering.
But this group—what the fuck kind of methods were these?!
Torture? And the kind that makes your hair stand on end just hearing it?
China’s criminal syndicates really were far more brutal than foreign gangs. Absolutely inhumane!
Demons! Absolute demons!
The more Jess thought about it, the more terrified he became. He stole a glance at Ma Da, who was casually sucking on his lollipop with a serene expression. For the first time, true fear welled up inside him.
From now on, he’d curse out anyone who said China was the safest country in the world!
Have you ever seen torture that makes someone laugh and cry at the same time, caught between life and death?
He’d just witnessed it!
It was simply too dark, too cruel!
