Chapter 540: Is Vulture Master Dead?
The moment Heavenly Club’s massive signboard came crashing down, several crime bosses watching from a private room in a nearby restaurant collectively gasped.
“They actually demolished it? Tore down the sign too—this is uprooting Vulture Master completely!”
“Ruthless. This is goddamn ruthless.”
“Seems we seriously underestimated this Young Mistress’s methods and guts. She actually dared to do it!”
“Madmen. Everyone in Wanlong Society is a madman.”
“This won’t do. I need to call an emergency meeting. From now on, if any of my men see anyone from Wanlong Society—hell, anyone in a black suit—they take a detour. Don’t provoke them, no matter what!”
“I need to call a meeting too. These people… I truly can’t afford to offend them.”
“Good thing I retired from the life. Whoever wants this world can have it.”
“……..”
The men continued discussing, voices thick with lingering fear.
Just then, a lackey they’d sent to gather information knocked and entered the private room, face pale with terror as he delivered the latest news.
“Something huge went down at Heavenly Club! Wanlong Society’s people went berserk… they completely leveled Vulture Master’s nest!”
“We saw that. What’s the situation?”
“Vulture Master’s Heavenly Club has been smashed into rubble. Losses are at least seventy or eighty million!”
“Those guys were brutal!”
“We’re not blind. Tell us something we don’t know,” one boss finally snapped, patience gone.
The lackey had been rattling off obvious facts.
He quickly remembered some fresh intel he’d just received.
“There is—there’s new info. My distant cousin’s second uncle’s neighbor passed through an alley behind the club and saw the owner, Vulture Master himself.”
The bosses immediately tensed up. “Vulture Master ran?”
The lackey shook his head. “Didn’t get far. They said those Wanlong Society guys in black cornered him.”
“My relative said Vulture Master was already done for—beaten until he spat blood, then just dropped dead on the spot. After that, Wanlong Society dragged him off like a dead dog. He said when they pulled him out, Vulture Master’s face was white as a sheet, not a twitch. Odds are, he’s gone!”
Before the words even settled, another boss’s phone rang. His man on the line confirmed the news.
“Boss, Wanlong Society’s ice-cold. Even more brutal than when we were running the streets. We can’t cross them—it’s terrifying!”
“Get to the point!”
“Vulture Master’s probably really dead. My brother saw him dragged from that alley, face covered in blood, definitely finished. He also heard the black suits mention something about humanitarianism—probably planning to handle the funeral.”
“At least Wanlong Society’s got some decency, giving him a proper burial.”
“Boss, we need to be careful from now on.”
Everyone: “……..”
The call ended. The private room fell into deathly silence, broken only by the bubbling hotpot.
The men exchanged glances, seeing only fear and relief in each other’s eyes.
“We underestimated Wanlong Society. We thought… not in broad daylight… wait, it’s night… but we never thought they’d actually kill him.”
“What kind of backing does Liu Yutong have to pull something this insane? Even back in my day, at my most arrogant, I wouldn’t dare kill someone so casually. Get caught and you’re facing the death penalty.”
“Enough. South City belongs to Liu from today onward. Let’s watch our step.”
Everyone present silently nodded, deciding that when they got home, they’d frame Liu Yutong’s portrait… no, they’d put her name at the very top of the absolute-do-not-provoke list.
…………….
Elsewhere.
Liu Yutong listened as Gu Yebai rattled on about the pressure he was under.
“Sis Yutong, you have no idea. My dad got wind of me helping you smooth things over. This operation was too damn big! I’d say grab the guy somewhere private if you want to work him over, but you caused a public scene. My dad is furious.”
“He says you owe him an explanation. How am I supposed to give him that?”
Right then, little Yaya in the back seat stretched out her tiny hand, clutching a small roll of clear tape.
“Big brother, you don’t have any tape? I have some. Here.”
Gu Yebai took the tape, baffled, and turned to Liu Yutong. “So… just this tape? To tape my dad’s mouth shut? That would be suicide. Who’d dare except my mom…”
Liu Yutong was both amused and exasperated. “Don’t worry, I’ll give you your explanation.”
The moment she finished speaking, Zhao Tianyi had someone deliver the signed contract. When Gu Yebai saw the contents, he couldn’t help but give Liu Yutong a thumbs-up. “Only you, Sis Yutong. Brilliant!”
“Now my dad won’t have a thing to say.”
Liu Yutong: “I told you we’re a legitimate company doing legitimate business, never anything illegal. Why don’t you ever believe me?”
Gu Yebai glanced at the dense crowd of black suits outside the window finishing up and boarding vehicles, thinking: I’d like to believe… but this scene makes it really damn hard.
But now that he had the explanation, he could go report back to his old man.
After Gu Yebai left, the cops finally showed up.
They didn’t arrest a single one of the black suits who’d just participated in the destruction. Instead, they immediately plastered Heavenly Club with police tape and hauled off all the club employees and thugs for investigation.
The scene looked exactly like they’d come specifically to sanitize the crime scene for Wanlong Society.
This final sight rendered the bosses who’d just left the hotel speechless once again.
After a long moment, someone finally spoke.
“Let’s go home and sleep. The sky… has gone dark.”
