Chapter 527: Little Sister, Are You All-Powerful?
“Fifty thousand is no small sum. As a student, working part-time like this, you’d be saving forever. Plus, the legality of this debt is already questionable. That Brother Tiger’s actions were clearly illegal. You don’t have to pay it back at all.” After hearing her story, Gao Min couldn’t help saying.
Fang Yaqiong: “I know it’s illegal, but… Lin Bin, I’m afraid those people will go after him again.”
When Gao Min heard this, she immediately grew furious: “How dare they! If they make a move, I’ll make sure they rot in prison!”
Fang Yaqiong was taken aback by Gao Min’s vehement reaction. She hadn’t expected such intensity.
She thought to herself, this doesn’t really have anything to do with her, does it?
Besides, the situation here is complicated. Sometimes calling the police doesn’t work. Those people are lawless underworld types.
Still, she was very grateful to this older sister figure who was so protective of her on their first meeting.
“Thank you, Sister Gao Min.”
Before they knew it, they had arrived at the university gates.
“I’ll say goodbye here. Yutong, Sister Gao Min, thank you both,” Fang Yaqiong said sincerely.
Although talking to them wouldn’t solve the practical problem, she did feel much lighter after getting it off her chest.
“Go on back, be careful,” Liu Yutong said.
“Yeah! Bye!” Fang Yaqiong waved goodbye to them.
“Bye!”
Watching Fang Yaqiong turn and walk through the school gate, Liu Yutong and Gao Min also prepared to leave.
Their car was already waiting by the roadside.
Just as Fang Yaqiong had walked about a dozen meters into the campus, she suddenly thought of something and hurriedly ran back.
She didn’t want Lin Bin to know what she’d said today and wanted to ask Liu Yutong and the others not to tell him.
But just as she reached the gate again, the scene before her left her stunned.
A black luxury sedan with the iconic double-M emblem on its hood had stopped before Liu Yutong and the others.
The stern-faced young man who’d been accompanying them respectfully opened the rear door for Liu Yutong.
Liu Yutong and Gao Min got in one after another. After the young man closed the door, he took the front passenger seat.
The two women in black who’d been with him walked toward another van that had pulled up behind.
In the instant the van door opened, she spotted several more young men inside wearing identical black clothing.
Fang Yaqiong stood there dumbfounded at the school gate, watching the vehicles drive away. Only after they’d vanished from sight did she remember she’d forgotten to ask them.
But by then, her mind was already flooded with other questions.
What kind of person was Liu Yutong, her high school classmate?
She had luxury cars picking her up, people who seemed to be secretly protecting her. Could she be some wealthy heiress?
But how could that be?
She knew Liu Yutong’s background—she was from the countryside and her family was ordinary.
Fang Yaqiong couldn’t help but recall their last encounter at a café in the university district.
Back then, although Liu Yutong had been simply dressed, her entire bearing was calm and composed—clearly different from the somewhat naive students around her.
At the time, Fang Yaqiong had been too preoccupied with her own worries to give it much thought.
Now, she understood.
No wonder since their reunion, she’d always felt an invisible gap between herself and Liu Yutong. She’d thought it was just her imagination.
Liu Yutong had clearly entered a world she couldn’t even begin to imagine, leaving her and their other classmates far behind.
………….
In the car.
“Yutong, why didn’t you let me ask her where that company is?” Gao Min asked, puzzled.
As a police officer, she naturally wanted to help when encountering such situations. At minimum, she should warn those people not to go too far.
Plus, that company seemed to be involved in a human life case. She couldn’t possibly ignore it.
Liu Yutong: “No need to ask. I know where it is. And Sister, don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning.”
Gao Min was taken aback: “What am I planning?”
Liu Yutong: “Sister, it’s good that you have a sense of justice. I wish all police officers were like you—the world would be at peace.”
“But some things are beyond even your ability to solve.”
Gao Min was about to protest.
Liu Yutong took out a USB drive and handed it to her.
“Here!”
Gao Min froze. She took the USB drive and looked at Liu Yutong questioningly: “What’s this?”
“Partial evidence of illegal lending operations.”
Liu Yutong briefly explained the contents: “Mainly some student loan files. Some are marked with special collateral, involving… well, indecent photos and videos…”
She’d gotten it from Brother Pao last time and hadn’t handed it over. Now was the perfect time to give it to Sister Gao Min.
Gao Min: “……”
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but whenever she was with her younger sister Liu Yutong, she felt like [Merit +1, Merit +1]… was constantly popping up over her head.
Whatever she needed just appeared.
Was there anything her younger sister couldn’t get?
“Yutong, the evidence you mentioned isn’t enough by itself. Anything else? Like account books?”
Liu Yutong rolled her eyes: “Sister, you’re getting greedy. You’re not the upright cop who likes to do everything by herself anymore.”
“And do you think I’m omnipotent?”
Gao Min nearly blurted out, “Aren’t you?”
“Stop that. I was just asking. I’ll investigate myself even without it.”
“Fine, thanks anyway. If we can crush this scourge, dinner’s on me.”
Liu Yutong grinned: “Really? Then I won’t hold back.”
“Of course it’s real. But nothing too expensive. I’m not as rich as you.”
“By the way, how do you know Brother Tiger’s gang is connected to the company on this drive?”
“I’ve investigated,” Liu Yutong said. “I was planning to…”
“Planning to what?” Gao Min suddenly grew wary.
Her younger sister couldn’t be planning something big again, could she? Like taking them all out at once?
Come to think of it, that really would fit her character.
Liu Yutong immediately corrected herself: “Ahem… nothing. I just wanted to surprise you, so your trip to South City wouldn’t be wasted.”
Gao Min eyed her suspiciously: “Really?”
“Sister, you can suspect anyone but your own sister. That hurts. Besides, haven’t you checked yourself? Isn’t my Wanlong Society a legitimate, legal enterprise?”
“Advanced Tax-Paying Enterprise, Pearl City Youth Entrepreneurship Role Model, Police-Civilian Friendly Unit, Courageous and Righteous…”
As Gao Min listened to her younger sister reel off Wanlong Society’s honors, she knew it was all true, yet couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
She wasn’t the only one. Many people felt the same way.
It was clearly a legitimate, compliant, award-winning enterprise, yet from top to bottom, it gave off a distinctly “dark” vibe.
Probably just a preconceived notion.
A few days later.
With the South City matters mostly wrapped up, Liu Yutong was preparing to return to Pearl City for her school’s anniversary celebration.
Unexpectedly, before she could leave, two important messages arrived.
First: Vulture Master was hunting the Heaven’s Eye Gang, apparently searching for something.
Second: a young foreigner had sent an intermediary to request a meeting.
Meanwhile.
While investigating, Gao Min received a call for help.
From Fang Yaqiong.
They only had each other’s contact info because Gao Min had followed up with her, revealing her identity.
On the other end, Fang Yaqiong was sobbing: “Sister Min, Lin Bin stole something from Brother Long. They caught him. They’re beating him to death.”
