Chapter 523: Who Else Wants to Play the Numbers Game?
No one expected Liu Yutong to strike so suddenly—and with such brutality.
The private room instantly became a powder keg.
Vulture Master watched Aqi writhing on the floor, clutching his arm, veins bulging on his forehead. Then he whipped his head around toward Yun Cheng, who was quietly murmuring something to the black-clad men behind him.
“Mumbling about something, just die already!”
Of course, he only thought this to himself and didn’t say it aloud.
“Enough already, Liu Yutong?” Vulture Master growled. “You’ve beaten the man, you’ve had your fun. Can we sit down and talk properly now?”
“If you don’t want to talk, then let’s just fight it out!”
“Let me tell you straight: I brought all my men today. They’re right downstairs. One word from me, and you won’t be walking out of this place!”
When Vulture Master arrived, he’d anticipated that Liu Yutong might not back down easily. He’d called in every favor and brought his entire crew, even borrowing extra muscle from other gang bosses—two to three hundred men in total.
Liu Yutong smirked as if she’d heard a joke. “Vulture Master, are you trying to compete with me on numbers? Why don’t you take a look downstairs?”
Huang Yu was the first to rise at her words. He walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows and looked down.
One look was all it took.
Huang Yu’s pupils constricted sharply. For the first time, this business titan revealed a look of horror and shock.
The scene below was impossible to describe as simply “lively.”
The plaza in front of the Xingyi Hotel was now completely blanketed in black. Dense crowds of black-clad figures stood silently, making even the surrounding light seem to dim in their presence.
Even from high above, the suffocating pressure was palpable.
The only jarring note was the faint sound of loud pop music drifting up from below.
As for Vulture Master’s two hundred-odd thugs, they were either lining up to board police vans or scattering in all directions.
After all, they were illegally assembled—unlike that black-clad crowd downstairs, which was a properly registered gathering.
Seeing Huang Yu’s reaction, Vulture Master’s heart sank, a wave of dread washing over him. He rushed to the window and looked down. When he saw the scene below, his face darkened even further.
That’s dirty pool!
Fucking hell, she actually called the cops to herd his men away like chickens and cart them off.
No wonder all he could see was black—his crew of misfits had vanished without a trace.
Liu Yutong walked to the window and stood beside the ashen-faced Vulture Master, overlooking the unusual spectacle below.
“Vulture Master, do you still want to play the numbers game with me?”
“What the hell do you want?!”
Right then, Liu Yutong’s assistant, Su Mansu, returned with a stack of freshly prepared documents.
“Boss, the documents are ready.”
Liu Yutong took them without so much as a glance, flipped straight to the signature page, then took the pen Su Mansu offered and handed it to Vulture Master.
“Sign it!”
“What is this?” Vulture Master was clearly reluctant.
“Either you sign, or…” Liu Yutong had no intention of letting him read the contents, but the implication was clear.
Vulture Master looked toward Huang Yu.
Huang Yu sighed. “Just sign it. Better to lose money than lose everything.”
He obviously assumed it was a compensation agreement.
Reluctantly, Vulture Master finally signed his name and pressed his thumbprint.
As he closed the file, he faintly glimpsed a single character: “Demolition.”
Demolition? Of what? Relocation housing?
Could she have known about his and Huang Yu’s plan to redevelop old neighborhoods in South City? Was she looking for a piece of the action?
Before he could figure out what he’d signed, the private room door opened again. Two uniformed police officers walked in.
The lead officer scanned the room, his gaze finally settling on Aqi, still kneeling and wailing.
“You’re Liu Zhiqi, right? Come with us.”
Vulture Master and Huang Yu’s expressions shifted again—they hadn’t expected the police to come upstairs and make an arrest.
“I’m wronged, Officer! They beat me! I’m the victim! Vulture Master, save me!”
Vulture Master’s face was livid, but he didn’t dare utter a word.
After a lifetime as a crime boss in South City, he finally understood what it meant when the world turned dark.
The victim gets beaten, then carted off by the cops.
It also showed how ruthless she was—unsatisfied with venting her anger, she wanted him to rot in a cell too.
Absolutely ruthless.
Aqi was dragged out like a dead dog.
The room fell deathly silent once more.
Liu Yutong smoothed her clothes. “Tonight’s misunderstanding is temporarily resolved. Mr. Huang, I’ll be leaving now.”
She’d considered taking out Vulture Master entirely, but that would have been too extreme. Huang Yu wasn’t a pushover either—it was better to let him keep some dignity.
Without another word, she turned and left.
In the hallway:
Yun Cheng followed behind Liu Yutong and asked quietly: “Boss, are we just letting Vulture Master off the hook?”
Liu Yutong handed him the contract directly. “Of course not.”
Yun Cheng flipped through the contract. When he saw the large characters on the first page, he suddenly cracked a smile.
