Chapter 516: Exclusive Security Team
“Yun Cheng, keep it down. This is a hospital. Lan Die is inside. She has a leg injury and needs quiet rest.”
“Yes, Miss Liu.”
Yun Cheng gestured, and the group of black-clad youths behind him immediately dispersed into position, silently securing the area.
Su Mansu: “…….”
She glanced at Yu Xin again, wanting to tell her: “This is certainly professional.”
These black-clad youths were far more professional than the small-time thugs she’d seen earlier. Their uniform black suits looked like something out of a movie.
And on the left breast of their suits, each bore an embroidered silver dragon emblem.
“So this is the Wanlong Society’s emblem? It’s quite striking.”
Among these Wanlong Society youths were not only men but also nine women.
They wore the same black suits, their presence every bit as commanding as their male counterparts—sharp, capable, and possessing a distinct air of authority.
After positioning his personnel, Yun Cheng quickly returned to Liu Yutong, his face barely containing his fury.
“Miss Liu, what exactly happened? Who did this?!”
“I’ve brought over five hundred men with me this time. Just give the order and I’ll have them hunt down the culprits and destroy them!”
Liu Yutong waved her hand, signaling him to remain calm. “The situation is complicated. We’ll discuss it in detail later. First, brief me on the situation back home.”
“Home” referred to Pearl City.
“Yes, Miss Liu.”
Yun Cheng forcibly suppressed his anger and began reporting the results of his work in Pearl City.
“Miss Liu, following this quarter’s assessment evaluations, 221 individuals have passed the core member review. The Wanlong Society’s core member ranks now total 1,306.”
“Across the entire group, including all subsidiary company formal employees, the latest statistics show we’ve exceeded ten thousand total personnel. This growth rate has outpaced our previous projections by a considerable margin…”
Su Mansu listened from nearby, her heart stirring with astonishment once more.
Though she could guess that Liu Yutong’s corporate group must be substantial—given its reputation—she hadn’t expected the employee count to have already surpassed ten thousand.
That was the scale of a major enterprise.
However, she still didn’t understand what Yun Cheng meant by “core members.”
Why would a company implement a core member system? Was it a form of differential treatment? Or did it mean all these people were management?
If they were all management, wouldn’t that number be excessively large?
The ratio was nearly ten to one—one manager for every ten employees. That would indicate a fundamental problem with the company’s organizational structure!
Before she could figure it out, Liu Yutong waved her over.
Su Mansu quickly collected herself and approached.
Liu Yutong introduced her to Yun Cheng: “Yun Cheng, this is Su Mansu, my newly recruited assistant. She has integrity. Moving forward, she can gradually begin to familiarize herself with group affairs that don’t involve core secrets.”
She didn’t mention Su Mansu’s capabilities—not because she doubted them, but because she hadn’t yet witnessed them herself.
Yun Cheng’s sharp gaze immediately fell upon Su Mansu, and she instantly felt a wave of pressure.
However, he quickly withdrew his imposing presence, nodding slightly at Su Mansu in acknowledgment. His attitude wasn’t warm, but it maintained basic courtesy.
“Assistant Su, hello.”
“Mr… Mr. Yun, hello.”
She had previously heard Yu Xin give a brief overview of the company’s key leadership and knew that this coldly handsome man before her was the former assistant to the new boss—effectively the organization’s second-in-command.
In a sense, she was filling his position. Or rather, half of it.
The other half would be handled by Lan Die.
Although today’s unfortunate incident was ill-timed, at least it reassured Yun Cheng and the others, proving that Lan Die was reliable.
Actually, they hadn’t initially trusted Lan Die very much. The woman was too cold and aloof.
After this incident, Lan Die could be considered formally approved.
However, as a precaution, the scale of security personnel around Liu Yutong needed to increase.
These people Yun Cheng had brought into the hospital today were personnel he’d specially selected for Liu Yutong—twenty-eight in total.
Every one of them, whether man or woman, represented the most skilled fighters in the Wanlong Society, elite among elites selected through a grand competition.
Ever since learning that Miss Liu planned to assign him major responsibilities, he’d had this idea.
He also understood that Miss Liu meant well. The veterans of Wanlong Society were all advancing, each rising higher and higher, yet he—the number two figure—had remained stagnant. Regardless of what those below might think, he needed to achieve something.
Additionally, he had to admit that having a female bodyguard follow Miss Liu was simply more convenient. This was an inescapable fact.
Therefore, since Miss Liu wanted him to oversee a multibillion-dollar investment project in BS Province, he had to arrange this matter before leaving.
Thus, taking advantage of the welfare distribution and core member promotions, he had convened all core members for a grand tournament, selecting these twenty-eight individuals to form Miss Liu’s security team.
Among the nine women, five were candidates he had originally recommended to Miss Liu as potential assistants. He had summoned them as well.
Their primary function would be as members of Miss Liu’s exclusive administrative secretariat, assisting Su Mansu with group work. Their role was similar to executive offices in other corporations.
Su Mansu certainly couldn’t handle everything alone. She needed people specifically assigned to manage daily affairs—phone calls, meeting preparation and minutes, and various other miscellaneous tasks.
Moreover, these five were more capable in combat than typical corporate secretaries and assistants. They could protect Miss Liu in critical moments.
The other four women were purely skilled fighters who could work alongside Lan Die for close protection.
The remaining personnel would serve as dedicated drivers and outer security.
Originally, Yun Cheng had worried that Miss Liu might reject such a lavishly assembled security team.
Because having too many followers could indeed feel restrictive. Everyone hoped for some personal space. Even the wealthiest tycoons rarely traveled with large security details, usually content with just a secretary and assistant.
This related to national circumstances. Dragon Country wasn’t like Beautiful Country, where it was all ‘Biu! Biu! Biu!’ everywhere.
Those foreign tycoons had to travel with massive professional security teams—because without them, they genuinely couldn’t survive, potentially getting gunned down at any moment.
But after what happened today, even if Miss Liu felt uncomfortable, he would insist.
“Miss Liu, you can bring these people with you whenever you go out from now on.”
“Isn’t that too many? It feels overly conspicuous for regular outings.”
“Miss Liu, your safety is always the top priority. Today’s incident is a warning. I’m certain you understand that some troubles won’t leave us alone just because we keep a low profile. We must ensure your safety.”
Yun Cheng gestured to the twenty-plus people in the corridor: “All were selected from the Wanlong Society. Rest assured—they won’t all need to follow you constantly, nor will they interfere with your normal life and schedule.”
Seeing Yun Cheng so insistent, Liu Yutong finally agreed.
Of these twenty-eight, five served as administrative secretariat assistants and wouldn’t need to accompany her constantly. The remaining twenty-four would be divided into two groups of twelve to handle Liu Yutong’s security on rotating shifts.
Each group had two women for close protection like Lan Die, with the remaining ten men responsible for outer security.
And thus, Liu Yutong’s exclusive security team was formally established.
