Chapter 513: Falling into Passive Position

“Fuck! Where did those green-haired bastards run off to?”

“Goddammit, I’m gonna beat the shit out of them today!”

“………”

From the east side of the food stall, a swarm of gangsters surged out—each with dyed, colorful hair and tight-fitting shirts. They were uniformly armed with steel pipes, chains, and similar weapons. It was obvious they were looking for trouble.

A moment later, one of his lackeys ran up to the leader and reported, “Brother Qi, we checked that alley too. Nothing. Those green-haired rats are burrowers!”

“That’s strange. We clearly saw them flee this way. Don’t tell me they all jumped in the river?”

“A bunch of clowns who can’t make a real impact.”

“………”

The leader looked different from the typical triad members around him—around thirty years old, with neatly slicked-back hair, black-framed glasses, and a black shirt. He looked more like a cultured businessman. The only exception was a shallow scar on his left eyebrow that split the tail of his brow, adding a sinister cast to his face.

At that moment, as if he hadn’t heard his lackeys’ words, his gaze was fixed on the food stall in the distance—on that girl with her remarkable presence standing before the foreigners.

After confirming she was Liu Yutong, the leader of Wanlong Society who had cheated his boss multiple times, he suddenly spoke.

“Stop searching.”

“Huh? Brother Qi, why?” asked a nearby blonde lackey, confused.

The corners of Qi’s mouth curled into a chilling smile.

“Our luck’s turned. We’ve found much more valuable prey.”

The lackeys followed his gaze toward the food stall. When they saw several women who had actually taken down multiple punks—and a few foreigners—they were stunned.

Before they could figure out who these fierce women were, Qi decisively raised his hand and ordered, “Seize those women. Capture them, and the boss will reward us handsomely!”

Crash! The thirty-something people who had been searching for the green-haired punks immediately dispersed, forming an encircling position around Liu Yutong and her group.

In truth, Liu Yutong had sensed something was wrong from the moment these unwelcome guests appeared. She had a bad feeling.

She didn’t recognize these people, but she could clearly feel the malice radiating from them—they meant trouble.

So when she saw them beginning to close in, she decisively shouted to Yu Xin and the others.

“Everyone run!”

Calling the police now was definitely too late. Running was their only option.

They had just been through a fight and were already weary. Plus, these thugs were clearly more experienced and far greater in number. No matter how skilled they were, they couldn’t take on this entire group.

Their appearance was completely unexpected, beyond Liu Yutong’s calculations.

She hadn’t called the police because she’d been confident she could handle Hawk and his crew. Who could have predicted this new enemy would crash the party?

She never considered they might be reinforcements Hawk had called—if they were, they would have attacked already, not waited until now.

They were just having terrible luck today. It was a bad day to go out.

Lan Die also recognized the danger. The moment Liu Yutong shouted to run, a dagger flashed in her hand, and she hurled it at the feet of the thug charging at the front.

Clang! The dagger plunged deep into the ground, startling the thug badly.

“Move!”

Lan Die barked, positioning herself beside Liu Yutong as they all rushed toward the weakest point in the encirclement.

“Trying to run?”

Qi sneered, then issued another order: “Block them! That woman in black—I want her alive! The rest, do as you please!”

At the command, the gang of thugs howled and lunged forward.

These criminals were clearly more professional and vicious than the amateur punks Hawk had hired.

Though drained, Liu Yutong remained agile. She sidestepped a swinging steel pipe, snatched an empty beer bottle from a nearby table, and smashed it over her attacker’s head with a sharp crack.

But more and more assailants kept closing in, and the situation grew increasingly desperate. Yu Xin even took a baton strike to her arm, which went numb instantly, causing her expandable baton to clatter to the ground as she yelped in pain.

“Hey, hey, hey! Fight fair, don’t hit the face! I make a living with this face!”

Lan Die fought mercilessly to break open an escape route, dropping two attackers in quick succession, but their numbers were overwhelming—take down one, and two more appeared. She was forced to retreat steadily.

Su Mansu was completely frozen, her face as pale as paper.

She hadn’t even officially started her job yet, and she’d already followed her new boss into two fights?

The doubt in her mind grew stronger—was this new company really legitimate?

Why did enemies keep appearing wave after wave?

The first fight she could understand—Hawk and his crew were petty and wanted revenge.

But this second confrontation was clearly with real organized crime figures who wanted to hack them to pieces the moment they met. She’d only seen this kind of scene in triad movies.

She was even considering telling Liu Yutong she wouldn’t take the job after all, that she’d rather go back to being a teacher.

As a teacher, she might swallow her pride sometimes, but following Liu Yutong wasn’t just swallowing pride—it was gambling with her life!

Su Mansu hated evil, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t afraid of death!

Soon, Su Mansu realized she was getting ahead of herself.

Never mind quitting—just escaping in one piece was now in question.

The four of them ultimately failed to break through the encirclement and were forced to stand back-to-back, ready to face dozens of armed thugs.

Even the usually unflappable Liu Yutong felt that today, they might not make it out safely.

Unless the police appeared in the nick of time.

As for reinforcements from Wanlong Society, they were too far away to arrive in time, and right now, they had no way to call for help.

“Stop struggling, Liu Yutong. Be smart and come with me quietly.”

Though she didn’t recognize him, Liu Yutong could guess his identity.

“You’re Vulture Master’s people?”

“Oh? So the Young Mistress of Wanlong Society isn’t completely ignorant of our side.”

“Since you know my boss, Vulture Master, you should understand that we’re not letting you leave. Give up!”

They had suffered at Wanlong Society’s hands no fewer than three times, and each time was a major loss. If not for their inability to operate across cities, they would have retaliated long ago.

Actually, they had tried crossing into Pearl City once, but were wiped out the moment they arrived. It was particularly humiliating.

Later, they were nearly implicated in the East Sea Alliance’s collapse, losing a substantial amount of money and business.

More recently, Wanlong Society had been so brazen as to take out some of their brothers in South City, which even led to many of their establishments getting raided by the cops. They were severely weakened.

Time and again they’d been shit on, and each time it got worse. Even a clay Buddha has its temper.

Boss Vulture Master issued the order: whoever captured Wanlong Society’s Young Mistress, Liu Yutong, would receive a five million reward directly.

Who would have thought, what a coincidence that he’d run into her today.

Truly, after wearing out iron shoes searching, he’d found her without any effort!

From a distance, Liu Hao watched this scene unfold. Logically, seeing this she-devil Liu Yutong driven into a desperate situation should have filled him with satisfaction.

So Liu Yutong has her day too!

But when he actually saw Liu Yutong and her group in crisis, his heart was instead conflicted.

Should he help them, first repaying the favor, then settling their old score?

One side was his enemy, the other side was an even more hated enemy.

Helping one enemy fight another enemy—the relationship was a bit complicated.
