Chapter 504: Three People Arrive

“I should preside over it?”

Yun Cheng thought he had misheard. “No, Miss, according to the rules, this core member promotion ceremony should be presided over by you. How can I—”

He was about to say that doing so would be overstepping his bounds.

In his mind, some rules were ironclad, especially the core member promotion ceremony. Its importance went without saying—it had always been presided over by Miss Liu herself, as this strengthened members’ loyalty to her.

But Liu Yutong cut him off: “Yun Cheng, rules are meant to be broken.”

Her authority within the Wanlong Society was now unmatched, so missing one promotion ceremony occasionally wouldn’t matter.

Besides, whether by actual position or status, Yun Cheng was the true second-in-command of the organization. He had been with her since high school, almost inseparable.

Everyone in Wanlong Society knew that Yun Cheng was the one she trusted most. To some extent, he was the only person in Wanlong who could fully represent her will.

“Yun Cheng, in BS Province, I need someone I trust who can handle the situation. This time, you’ll be completely on your own.”

She said this while looking at him very seriously.

Although Yun Cheng had long known he would be assigned elsewhere and understood Miss Liu’s trust and cultivation of him, the thought of no longer being able to follow her side at all times, of not being able to protect her immediately when needed, left him feeling empty.

However, he never refused Miss Liu’s arrangements.

Finally, he straightened his back and nodded firmly: “Miss, I will definitely handle this well.”

Liu Yutong looked at him. Though she also felt some reluctance, she said: “Go. Get back soon.”

“Yes!”

Yun Cheng added: “Miss, while I’m away, please take extra care of yourself. Especially for your recent schedule, safety must be the priority.”

Liu Yutong nodded slightly: “I will.”

Yun Cheng said no more, turned crisply, and left the office.

Yu Xin looked at the closed door and sighed inwardly: “Brother Yun must be hurting inside.”

In the next moment, a smile appeared on her face as she said: “Sister Yutong, you’re sending Brother Yun out to become a regional governor.”

Liu Yutong walked to the window, looked down, and saw Yun Cheng driving away in a black sedan.

“He can’t be my shadow forever. Let’s start with this arrangement. If he really can’t adapt, he can always come back.”

Actually, she didn’t know if she was doing the right thing.

But she saw that the veterans of Wanlong Society were either rising higher or taking on more management sectors, while Yun Cheng was almost standing still. It wasn’t fair to him.

Still, what she said earlier was true—the operation in BS Province was so massive that she really wouldn’t trust an ordinary person to handle it.

Yu Xin also understood Liu Yutong’s thinking and mostly agreed, except…

“Then Sister Yutong, what about your safety with Brother Yun gone? Honestly, having him by your side makes us all feel secure.”

Liu Yutong turned around, looked at her, and smiled faintly: “We’re in a law-abiding society now. How many bad people could there be?”

Saying this, she walked gracefully to the sofa and sat down.

“Wait another ten minutes. Sit and have some tea.”

Yu Xin was taken aback but didn’t ask further. She simply nodded, sat down across from Liu Yutong, and with delicate hands, picked up the teapot to pour a cup of clear tea for Liu Yutong, then filled her own.

Then the two of them just started chatting.

After about ten minutes, the office door was knocked.

“Come in.”

As soon as she spoke, a group of people hurried in.

Leading them were Lin Muyang and Yu Mo. Behind them was a girl—a girl who seemed naturally cold and detached.

The girl looked to be in her early twenties, slender, wearing black athletic gear, her hair in a simple ponytail. Her features were delicate, but her eyes were extremely cold. She gave off the impression of a shadow without any warmth.

Lin Muyang had just sat down before Liu Yutong when he couldn’t wait to ask: “Yutong, that massive movement in the foreign financial markets recently—that insane harvest of ten billion US dollars—was that your doing?”

“Honestly, I really can’t think of a second person with such heaven-defying methods.”

Liu Yutong nodded straightforwardly.

“It was me.”

Lin Muyang had only been speculating, but seeing Liu Yutong admit it so readily, he was floored.

“It was really you?”

“You really fleeced over ten billion from across the ocean—in US dollars? You’re treating Wall Street like your personal ATM?!”

“Wait, Yutong, how could you pull off something this huge without telling us? Now look, we’ve missed out on hundreds of millions!”

Liu Yutong: “I wanted to bring you in, but did you have the money?”

“I checked Mingzhu Capital’s accounts before. You only had twenty million. Can you blame me?”

Before she decided to enter the market, she had someone drain all the cash flow from Wanlong Society Group and, along with loans and various other sources, barely cobbled together 2.3 billion.

A move this big, Lin Muyang couldn’t have not known about it.

She had also considered having Mingzhu Capital contribute some funds, but unfortunately, aside from Lin Muyang and Yu Mo, the others’ investments in the fund were too small.

Though it was understandable—besides them, there weren’t many big bosses who had joined the Mingzhu Chamber of Commerce and invested in Mingzhu Capital.

Those truly wealthy bosses initially looked down on the chamber she was building.

Furthermore, both Lin Muyang and his partner had their funds tied up elsewhere. Lin Muyang was frantically acquiring copyrights, leaving almost no wiggle room.

As for Yu Mo, the Yu Group followed a heavy-asset model, so there wasn’t much freely available capital on the books. Most importantly, they didn’t have Liu Yutong’s desperate courage to bet the farm, which is why they missed this opportunity to make a fortune.

Hearing Liu Yutong say this, both knew they were in the wrong and started sighing.

Liu Yutong knew perfectly well they were putting on an act.

These two had come with requests.

She didn’t call them out or beat around the bush.

“Muyang, you’ve bought quite a few copyrights, haven’t you? It’s time to start assembling a team and building that video platform. Aim for a launch next year. I’ll lead the investment on funding.”

“In BS Province, Wanlong Society Group has planned the construction of eleven shopping plazas. I’ll give that project to Yu Group. Also, the day after tomorrow, there’s a property auction in Greater South City. Come with me.”

Both of them almost simultaneously grew excited upon hearing this.

“We can start the video platform now?”

“Eleven shopping plazas in BS Province? Does that mean I can build residential complexes around them?”

…………………….

PS: Just got home not long ago, didn’t have time to write properly, so here’s a filler chapter for now.

I was pretty lucky—I arrived in Luoyang on the 2nd. The weather forecast showed rain, but both the 2nd and 3rd were clear, even sunny. It’s been raining nonstop since I got back today. Regarding the look you all wanted to see, well… actually, I’m pretty ordinary. It’s all makeup and post-production. The photography was good too. Total cost was over 300, close to 400 bucks.
